Saint 6A West Dual Champion
Saint Finishes Dual Season as 6A State Runner Up
Saint won four straight duals defeating North Iredell, Southern Alamance, Piedmont, and Eastern Guilford to win the title of 6A West Dual Champion. We came up short against the #1 6A Union Pines of the East in the State Finals match losing 21-37.
The Tribe had a great year finishing with a 39-3 dual record. We are now sending 11 boys and 3 girls to the State 6A Individual Championship in Greensboro this weekend.

Saint Wins Conference Dual Team Title for 2026
After defeating McDowell 66-9 on 1-16-2026, the Tribe needed one more win to clinch the 2026 Dual Team Championship. Tonight we went into the conference title match with 4-0 South Caldwell. We won tonight 58-10 to take down South Caldwell and claim the undefeated conference title at 5-0. This win gives the Tribe a 35-2 overall record.
Pinning for the Tribe tonight was Zane Taylor, Malakai Esclamado, Carson Powell, Jeremiah Coleman, and Davante Johnson.
Hank Franklin and Micah Geoghegan collected tech-falls.
It has also been announced that the conference tournament will be at South Caldwell this Thursday 1-22-2026 at South Caldwell

Saint will have its first ever Girls Senior Night as we honor the first Saint Senior girls to start our first every Girls Team.

We also host McDowell on Friday Night for a conference match. McDowell is 2-1 in conference action. This is a critical match for our team to stay in the conference lead. So bring your relatives and scream your head off.

Saint Advances in Conference to a 3-0 Record
This past week and Tuesday night Saint defeated Alexander Central 66-6 and Freedom 71-3.
In the Alexander Central match those pinning for the Tribe were Hank Franklin, Malakai Esclamado, Koen Killian, Jeremiah Coleman, Jake Hoke, Micah Geoghegan, and Davante Johnson. Alexander Stewart, Carson Powel, Davis Kerns grabbed major decisions.
Also in the Girls Division Kylie Xiong, Neveah Smith, Savannah Lasher, and Joselyn Espinoza all pinned for the Tribe.
In tonight's match up with Freedom pinning were made by Malakai Esclamado, Koen Killian, Carson Powell, Jeremiah Coleman, Jake Hoke, Davis Kerns, Micah Geoghegan, and Avery Rhymer. Tommy Kishpaugh obtained a 16-0 techfall, Henry Franklin got a decision.

Saint Defeats Watauga in Opening Conference Season Matchup
Saint won their conference season opener against Watauga with a 66-9 win. Saint is now 31-2 overall and 1-0 in conference.
Pinning tonight were Hank Franklin, Malakai Esclamado, Koen Killian, Alexander Stewart, Atticus Lail, and Davante Johnson. Jacob Morgan won a 6-4 decision. Jake Hoke won a 20-13 decision.
Our next match is at Alexander Central this Friday 01-09-2026.

Saint Closes Out December With Outstanding Wins
It was a nail bitter at Cary this year. We were down by 1 point with only our heavy weight championship match to go. Davante Johnson won the match by decision against last year's 1A state champion. This gave us 4 points to close out with a team lead of 3 points. This was a great team win.
We proceeded to the next tournament at Ashe County. The "Best of the West". We scored way above the other schools and won the Team Trophy. Our next set of dual matches were at the Enka Duals. We topped all five opponents at that tournament and claimed the Team Championship Trophy.

Saint Defeats Newton-Conover 55-16
Saint scored big and often in our match tonight against Newton-Conover. Pinning tonight for the Tribe was Tommy Kishpaugh, Landen Killian, Malakai Esclamado, Koen Killian, and Avery Rhymer.
Alexander Stewart won by a medial forfeit at the end of the first period. Carson Powell won by tech-fall. Jeremiah Coleman and Heath Alejo by major decision. Micah Geoghegan won a hard fought decision 7-2
This win pushed Saint to a 18-1 dual team wins. We will be wrestling all weekend at Newton-Conover in the Red Devil Duals. We will have 8 matches spread over two days.

Saint Places Third at Mooresville "Ben Watson Wrestle for the Cure" Duals
The Tribe won 3 out of 4 matchups. We defeated South Rowan 62-14, Cutherbertson 65-11, and Mooresville 52-23 in the nights final match for 3rd place.
We lost our first match of the season to Hough 26-44. Hough is ranked #1 8A in the state. So we lost to the highly ranked large school. Nothing to be disappointed about. Our guys fought hard.

Saint Rolls to Huge Victory at the Forbush Duals
Saint controlled the pool matches with a 4-0 record. The Tribe defeated East Mecklenburg 49-25, East Forsyth 84-0, Walkertown 82-0, and Ledford 84-0. This set us up the the winner of the opposite pool, Davie County. It was a battle to the finish as you can see by the results below. Everyone played an important role in holding off their state level wrestlers and conquering the rest of their team. As you can see below, it took the entire Tribe to achieve the win. Davie is the most solid team we have competed against this year. This was a significant win for the Tribe.

Saint Sweeps Owen and Enka
Saint had a good night of wrestling defeating Owen 65-16 and defeating Enka 40-28. The Tribe is now 4-0 in the dual record.
In the Owen match Zane Taylor, Alexander Stewart, Atticus Lail, Carson Powell, Jacob Morgan, Jake Hoke, and Diego Ayala all pinned for the Tribe.
In the Enka match Atticus Lail, Carson Powell, and Avery Rhymer pinned for the Tribe. Tommy Kishpaugh and Alexander Stewart scored a major decisions. Jeremiah Coleman scored a hard fought 9-4 decision.

Saint Wins Big Over Kings Mountain and Maiden
Wednesday was a great night to be a Saint Fan. Saint defeated Kings Mountain 70-3 and Maiden 62-17. We controlled the night by gaining 17 pins against the competition's 2 pins.
And our new girls team defeated Maiden 42-23 in their first ever Female Dual Team action. The gym was full of squeals and screams when our girls would score. That was good for the heart to hear. We did the right thing on bringing on a Female squad and credit goes to Coach Paul Lane on his efforts to recruit the ladies and show them support.
When our male team took the mat for warm-ups, it looked like the old days when Alabama could dress out 150 for game day. Our red wave flooded the floor. We were also wearing our new warm up jackets. They are great!

Opening Night of the 2025-2026 Season on 11-12-2025 at 5:30
Saint Wrestling is starting off the season ranked #4 on Rank Wrestling. We will compete with the #1 ranked Kings Mountain in our first match of the night.
Typically Maiden and Kings Mountain will wrestle the first match of the night. Saint and Kings Mountain will wrestle in the second match. Saint will take on Maiden in the night's final match.
This will be an exciting night of wrestling with state rankings in the balance.
I will not be sending out group emails this year. I will list all results and other information on this Announcement page. So check back here frequently for results and other announcements.

Team and Parent Meeting
Before the start of each sports season we are required to have an informational parent meeting. Our football and soccer teams are in the playoffs and we want these athletes to be able to attend. With fall and winter seasons overlapping, finding a day that works for everyone is difficult. So, we are going to set a day that we hope will work for the most athletes.
Our parent meeting will be Sunday, November 9th at 5:30 pm. We will have a salad and spaghetti meal for everyone in attendance. Let your wrestler know how many each family will bring so that we have enough food for everyone. Looking forward to another great season of Saint Wrestling!!
